The Modakeke Progressive International, (MPI) in the United States of America, has expressed sadness over the demise of the foremost academic and illustrious son of the soil, Dr. Anthony Oyewole, who passed away in the early hours of Tuesday.
The condolence message was contained in a statement signed by the President of the diaspora organization, Alhaji Yemi Animasaun, who described Baba Oyewole’s demise as a great loss and whose important position would be difficult to fill in the affairs of the community.
Alhaji Animasaun described the late Chief Anthony Oyewole as an exemplary community leader who gave everything he had to the development of Modakeke and defended its identity.
The statement reads, “we received the sad news of the death of Baba Dr. Anthony Oyewole, the Asiwaju of Modakeke with great shock and heaviness of heart. However, we took solace in the fact that Baba lived a good life and his contributions to the making of Modakeke of today cannot be overstated.”
“Baba was instrumental to every stage of the development of Modakeke and promoted community accomplishments over personal ones”
“We condole with Oba Olubiyi Toriola, the Ogunsua-in-council, Modakeke Progressive Union both at home and in the diaspora, and all Modakeke indigenes over this great loss”
“Our prayers are with the immediate family of Chief Asiwaju, friends, acquaintances and the whole Modakeke community. A ku ara fera ku.”
“We pray to God Almighty to rest the soul of Dr. Oyewole and grant us all the fortitude to bear the great loss,” the statement concluded.
